Puerto Natales was a rest stop on our way to Torres del Paine. Located in the Magellan’s region of Chile, this small town is the last passenger port of call for boats sailing to the Senoret Channel.
Being here makes you feel like you have reached the end of the world…even though we went further south. The first impression being here, the sound of the wind, the gray stormy sky and its empty streets makes you think how far man has come…us and before us.
Standing on that cold shore, staring at the white mountaintop and contemplating the collision of nature and civilization brings back so many memories to my mind. You can easily feel desolation being this far, you can feel some sort of melancholia and nostalgia for having lost this kind of peace in our everyday life. But certainly standing in this port, you can feel peace, and you can smile to your self, feeling grateful for being here…just for being here.
